I need a dress and I want it...NOW!

Most dresses can take around five months to be delivered so we would recommend that you order your dress around eight months before your wedding. This allows you enough time for fittings. We can also offer rush cuts on some occasions and may be able to get a dress quicker but this is not guaranteed. As we hold a large stock of dresses we can also sell dresses off the shelf.

Just Looking?...

If you just want to come for a look you must make an appointment. We believe this is the most important dress you will buy and we want to make sure you have all of our attention. Prior to coming in we do a zoom chat and have a chat through your wedding plans,  dress styles, appointment procedure etc. We appreciate it can be daunting coming to a bridal shop but a wee blether with us will encourage you that it can be fun!!!

What should I wear?

Please come to your appointment in whatever you feel happy in. Wear a bra that you feel gives you a good shape and wear pants that you are happy standing about in. Please bring shoes with you too that reflect your preferred heel height. 

We come in the changing room with you and help you with the dresses so you want to feel comfortable in what you are wearing.

 

Who to Bring...

We also suggest that when you come in for an appointment you bring a couple of trusted people. We find that when there’s loads of folk with lots of different opinions the bride’s opinion can be lost and it’s about YOU-the bride. We can take three guests & Bride .

Booking Appointments....

We operate a computer based appointment system at GWS. In Edinburgh we take one bridal appointment at a time. Our shop is arranged to offer privacy so your appointment is in your own separate area with your own fully trained consultant. With 22 year’s experience in bridal we know every bride is unique and as such our customer service is personal and specific (and we are not on commission!) All bookings now also include a zoom consultation pre your appointment. Appointment fee is £25

 

The Money...

Our part payment when you decide to buy your gown(s) from us is 50%. When this is paid your dress can be ordered. You part payment can be paid in instalments, if time allows. The balance of the gown is due when you collect your gown at GWS. We accept cash and most types of credit and debit cards. We also have a contract which you are requested to read and sign at time of purchase.

 

Is it here yet?

The suppliers we use tend to take around 5/6 months to be deliver dresses from date of order. We always advise on your invoice/receipt the expected delivery month of your order. We will email you when your dress is in.

 

Tweaking aka Alterations..

At your dress collection appointment we will explain what alterations you may require. 

We can then book your fittings in with Aggie's Alterations (independent dressmaker). All fittings are done in Gwenne Broxburn on a Tuesday or Thursday. The fittings are done by arrangement and are charged separately and paid to seamstress. This charge is in addition to the cost of your dress. You are however free to use any dressmaker of your choosing.
